MEDIA RELEASE May 7, 2014 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE |
official: dteg & i.v.s., gannon university, mount public reading of broadway hopeful "stormy" in erie, pa. next week
NEW YORK, NY, and BOSSIER CITY, LOUISIANA (May 7, 2014) - Iron Violet Productions'™/ Iron Violet Stage™ division, in association with Denman-Turner Entertainment Group (DTEG), and Gannon University's Schuster Theatre present a public staged reading of the Broadway-aimed musical entitled "STORMY". The limited engagement is one weekend only, and is designed to assist the producers, and production companies, to evaluate the status of the production at this stage of development, in anticipation of a commercial production.
"STORMY" will be performed at Gannon University's Schuster Theatre on May 16th, and May 17th at 8 p.m. Admission is $10 per person. Tickets will be sold at the door - on a first come, first served basis. This one weekend only engagement supports the Schuster Theatre's participation, and performance, at the 2014 International Collegiate Theatre Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland in August.
It is common for professional productions to "workshop", "try-out" out of town, and perform staged and semi-staged readings, all in the interest of perfecting the property. This developmental tool is critical in the creation of an original theatrical work.
The Executive Producers; Dominique Denman, Kellie Turner, and Marcinho Savant are very thankful for the participation of Erie Playhouse, and Gannon's Schuster Theatre. According to composer/writer/executive producer, Kellie C. Turner: "I have been in labor with this project as lead writer and composer for some time.
"These characters have evolved into the glitz and glamour that defined an era that rose above its circumstances to get to the root of the human need to love and be loved. The joy, and the stories, were told in a toe-tapping tune that pulsed through the veins. I'm looking forward to hearing the words, and getting feedback from the citizens of Erie, and the surrounding areas, as we prepare to mold this child into something wonderful."
Auditions were hosted by the Erie Playhouse, at the end of March, with the support of Erie's Executive Director, Almi Clerkin, along with Lisa Layman-Weber, and Gannon University's Schuster Theatre's Shawn Clerkin. Each employed all their, highly-in-demand, tools to enthusiastically receive the production, and facilitate the engagement of Erie's bustling theatre community to participate in this next phase of the project.
It is also possible to ask questions of the theatre by sending an e-Mail to Jax Kubiak at Gannon University.
Following the reading, the production expects to gear up for out of town regional tryouts in multiple cities, prior to an expected open in London, and then to Broadway.
